LASER SKIN PEEL
What is a Laser Skin Peel?
The Laser Skin Peel by Sciton© is an advanced system for wrinkle reduction and restoring your skin to its natural beauty. The treatment removes thin layers of your skin surface, which will be replaced by younger skin growth. Only the special Sciton© contour laser has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimized to your skin condition. The goal is for the wrinkles to soften vanish with new skin growth.
What conditions can be treated?
Many conditions can be treated, but the most common include: Wrinkles, sun spots, acne scars, and epidermal moles.
How long will it take to recover?
Downtime varies from person to person, but a 10-20 micron peel usually takes about 3 days to recover and a 40-60 micron peel takes about 5 days. A deeper laser peels results in more dramatic results.
What happens during the procedure?
Depending on the depth of treatment, topical numbing cream or a nerve block is applied to the treatment area. Your eyes will be protected by metal shields while the laser beam is delivered to the area of your skin being treated. As the laser removes the outer skin cells, there is a snapping or popping sound. Treatment of the face usually takes about 30 minutes.
What should I expect after treatment?
Immediately after the treatment the skin can feel warm, like a sun burn. The skin is usually red appearing and there may be some swelling. Patients do not usually note significant discomfort. The new skin that grows will be healthier and younger looking.
What after-care will I need?
It is very important to follow after-care instructions to ensure the shortest healing time. You must use prescription sun block and avoid direct sun for at least 4 weeks after treatment. While the new skin is growing it is also very important to keep the skin moisturized continuously.
