How does BBL work?
The Broad Band light enters the skin through a cool sapphire crystal. The problem areas in the skin selectively absorb the light energy and are altered and destroyed. This process restores your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors.
What areas can be treated?
Any area can be treated. The most common areas that we treat are the face, arms, chest, hands, shoulders and legs.
How many treatments will I need?
Results vary from person to person, but Dr. Long is usually able to produce the desired results in 1-2 treatments. You may benefit from additional treatments depending on the severity of your skin condition.
What should I expect after the treatment?
BBL is a noninvasive procedure with virtually no down time. In most cases you will be able to return to work, apply makeup and resume activities right away. You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Some pigmented lesions will darken and flake off or fade in a few days.
What will happen during the procedure?
The procedure is gentle and no anesthetic is needed. Your eyes will be protected with shields or safety glasses. You may feel a brief warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the light in absorbed by the target blemish. The procedure usually takes 30 minutes.
