Skin Tyte FAQ

What is Skin Tyte?

Skin Tyte is a treatment for skin tightening developed by the cutting edge company Sciton Inc. This system selectively targets the tissues under the skin with infrared light. Changes occur below the epidermis in the dermis. Since infrared energy is preferentially absorbed by water and collagen the collagen strands under the skin denature and contract in response to high temperatures. These collagen changes produce the amazing skin tightening with our surgery.

How is the procedure done?

The skin is cleaned with a mild cleanser to remove any dirt, makeup, or moisture from the treatment area. This is followed by an alcohol wipe. Allow alcohol to evaporate before treatment. The sapphire crystal is applied to the skin. Up to five passes are made over the skin. The area the size of the neck usually takes about 30-60 minutes to treat.

Does Skin Tyte hurt?

Only a topical preparation, as needed, to alleviate discomfort for sensitive patients or sensitive areas prior to treatment. The numbing cream is remove before treatment with mild soap and water or an alcohol swab, then plain water. Topical anesthesia is unnecessary for most people.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment you may have some light, uniform redness in the skin a few minutes after treatment. The longer-term treatment goal, after 3 to 6 months, is collagen remodeling of partially denatured and contracted collagen resulting in subsequent wrinkle improvement and reduction of laxity, followed by continued or maintained improvement with a maintenance program. Patients will typically report feeling some tighter skin instantly following treatment.

What does the Skin Tyte feel like afterward?

The redness may feel like a moderate sunburn and tightening should be noticed in the treatment area for up to two hours after treatment. You should not feel any significant discomfort after the treatment.

What can I do if I feel some discomfort?

Cold compress can provide some comfort after treatment. If blistering occurs call us rightway so we can treat the skin aggressively with agents such as Vigilon,

Second Skin, silastic sheeting or other interventions.

How often can I have Skin Tyte treatments?

Recommended time interval between treatments is 2- 4 weeks. Dermal changes from fibroblast activity may begin to be observed between 3 to 6 months after treatment. Incremental improvement may progress for six months or longer. Tightness of the treated area may be noticed immediately after treatment.

Can I have other cosmetic treatments at the same time?

Combination rejuvenation treatments may be given with other minimally invasive therapies. If you receive other treatments (light, chemical peel, microdermabrasion, Botox, collagen injection) in conjunction with Skin Tyte, it is advisable to perform Skin Tyte first.
